TETRIS CLUSTERS: PAM Housing 4.0 Entry

“The driving idea that forms this housing development is akin to the concept of Tetris where tile-matching puzzles are affixed to a grid system and is composed of modular shapes and sizes. Its objective is to optimize the use of space while providing variations for individuality. Dozens of floor plan variations could be created from only 3 types of rotated Tetris units. The flexibility of alterations within an engineered framework is the nobility of the Industrialized Building System (IBS). The concept of the Tetris further compliments the idea of modularity, forming the basis for layout logic and façade design with the technology of IBS. A close-knit community creates a sense of security and belonging. As the urban areas become increasingly […]

Sky Pool ELYSIAN

ELYSIAN: the embodiment of sky & water. Sky pool is generally defined as a water body with infinity edge(s) producing a visual effect of water without boundary. This illusive water-sky horizon is often a planar experience. Elysian is envisioned to transform the experience of the horizon which separates the water from sky into a wholistic embodiment of both water & sky through a series of vertically stacked cantilevered pools, creating a seemingly infinite disposition of water and sky. The preconceived horizon diminishes and one finds himself floating in two mediums of formlessness. This immersive and gravity defying experience forms a personal journey of self and situational awareness, where one finds himself in a sky pool escapade unlike any other commercial […]

Equals 3

…Instead of concentrating on joints and lines (as I did in “1+1”), the bare planes became the design means to expose its beautiful grain and texture and practically fitted into a display briefcase. […]

Annual Architecture Student Works Exhibition 2010

The display booth is envisioned to be a changing and interactive installation. Unlike conventional booths that affix the works to a scope of view, the booth acts like an unfolding Rubik’s model to engage viewers more intimately to the works through physical interactions and customized perspectives. This vision comes with a number of pragmatic challenges, namely, the installation of lights, model securing devices and the choice of material suitable for such dynamic arrangements and flexibility. In order to minimize the booth’s weight, we chose the triangular framework as the basis of our structural design, which enables us to minimize the use of material while attaining sufficient strength. The lighting is a suggestive instrument used to reveal the works displayed. It may suggest […]

1 + 1

Designed furniture is intimate to the scale of human body and engages with our daily little (perhaps trivial) routine. There is a dynamic relationship between the design and the user; furniture is not merely an object but an expression of a living tool. In pursuit of this concept, the furniture is designed to exhibit motion and velocity. The ever extending lines that construct these pieces are visual manifestations of a growing furniture, wrapping itself around a column. The dowels and ‘mortise & tenon’ joints are intentionally integrated as structural means, aesthetic display and purposeful extensions according to user’s imagination. Made of 1+1, the furniture enables user to disassemble and locate it out of context, as a free standing sculpture. The […]

Blue Nebula

Painting inspired by Romans 12:1-2 ” Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” […]
